looks to me like an already sealing rubber end. DN58 should fit tightly, 2cm depth is enough. The siphon acts as a odor trap if you are worried that your machine might start to smell. But we hardly need that. I would temporarily seal it with a freezer bag stuck on / over it or something.
no, unfortunately that is not a rubber end, it is just as hard as plastic, I only cleaned the front part from old lubricant residues, the front part was still wet when photographing, which is why it looks rubber-like
