Maybe he hasn’t noticed yet how much water is leaking... The effort for sealing, record-keeping for pipes, etc. is quite high. Plus the time involved. Still, it can work. I would rather rely on something ready-made.

For the concrete channel rings, you have to pour a base, seal the joints, etc. Also, they are rather small in diameter. Or you take the 200 rings. But they also cost around 500 euros per meter. A 10m² concrete cistern costs about 2,500 euros. And you always have peace of mind. If there is someone who can dig the hole cheaply for you, that is already half the battle.
