Hello everyone.

We are at the very beginning of our plans to build / have a property built.

We are currently planning to build without a basement, is that sensible? And does it make sense to plan for a so-called energy-saving floor slab (costs/construction time/own effort/later energy costs/other advantages/disadvantages)?

We look forward to any suggestions! and thank you in advance for your attention!!

Best regards
DirkB

That depends entirely on... where the building is to take place, what the plot allows, what the wishes of the builders are, what costs are associated with which solution, etc... Which area is to be built on, what the slope inclination is - building on a steep slope without a basement is not impossible but usually nonsensical - where the building services etc. will be located... Energy-saving slab can mean anything - what is that supposed to be here?

That sounds like 'I don't even know what I want yet, and what I can afford.' So the entirely logical approach is: first clarify what the financial situation allows. Then clarify what is needed. Then clarify how expensive the plot including all ancillary costs (including utility costs!) would be. Then you see whether the topic of house building can even be tackled, and can deal with the details...

Thank you very much for the suggestions irgendwoabaier :)

No. It’s not that we don’t know what we want, but we do know what we want! And the financing is feasible up to 350,000 EUR, the plot is even already under consideration.

But we first want to develop our own ideas about where the journey should go...

There are no restrictions on the plot, we can build freely (within certain limits). There would be enough space. We don’t have a slope location, but thanks for the hint, I just checked again ;)

For me, an energy-saving base plate means what, for example, Futura Fundamente offers. What else could it mean for you?

The concept there seems 'strange' to me - it certainly saves energy during construction by integrating various components in a sequence that does not correspond to the traditional construction method. However, it probably belongs in the area of product reviews.

Otherwise, the word can mean anything, just as energy-saving houses have to save an incredible amount of energy compared to the current legal requirements...

Thank you very much for your suggestions irgendwoabaier. But so far I do not see any help in your answers. No hard feelings, you are surely doing your best... thanks again for that. Maybe there are others who will take the trouble to respond. Regards DirkB

Hello Dirk,
hopefully an "energy-saving" slab-on-grade is always used nowadays ;)

Still, of course you mean the one from Futura. How are all those who know about floor construction supposed to know how the Futura energy-saving slab-on-grade is built? Besides, you didn’t even mention in your initial thread that this naming comes from Futura.

Many homebuilding companies give their "special inventions" a new name, yet the wheel is not reinvented each time, so sometimes something trivial or fundamental is behind it ;)
