It's not a pity. Because it looks damn awful on the floorboards ;)
Half-bond/1/3 bond or directly a random laying (saves - besides the great look - also material).

Thanks, well, we find the parallel bond nicer but now we will certainly do half bond/1/2.

And why don't you then glue the parquet fully over the entire surface if you absolutely want the herringbone pattern? Problem solved.
