Hello everyone,

I am currently writing down what sockets, switches, etc. we need for each individual room in our new building.
In the bedroom, there should be a ceiling light, which can be switched on and off from the entrance to the bedroom but also from the left and right sides of the bed.

There is a bedside lamp on each side of the bed.
I am still considering whether to run the bedside lamp through a switchable socket or via a wall-mounted outlet with an associated switch. Left and right of the bed.
What switching do I need?
1 x crossover switch for the ceiling light or is a two-way switch enough (door, left bed, right bed)
2 x on/off switches for the bedside lamps.

Can a series switch (toggle switch) be used on the left and right sides of the bed for the plan to switch the respective bedside lamp on/off and the ceiling light on/off from the bed?

Electrical engineering was never my thing^^

Thank you very much

Do you really have to decide whether it will be a crossover switch or not? Isn't it enough if you list your requirements and the electrician thinks about the implementation? More than two switches is a crossover switch. Circuit with push buttons and relays is usually cheaper/simpler than a crossover switch. What you ultimately intend to do with the bedside lamps, at least I did not understand.

We solved it like this:

- Ceiling light is operated only with the switch at the door.
- On the left and right of the bed, a wall outlet that can be switched both at the door and at the respective side of the bed (two-way switch).

I find this clearly better than being able to switch the main light from the bed.

That's how we solved it too

You come into the bedroom, turn on the "big light" and then turn it off again in bed.

Do you walk to the bed, turn on the light at the bedside table, walk back to the door, turn off the "big light" and then walk back to bed?

Another option if it should not be a [Kreuzschaltung]. [Wechselschaltung] for ceiling with one switch each centered at the head end and at the door. Nightstand simply switch off. Why switch nightstand lamps from the door? Honest question, I don't see any benefit there?
