Thank you very much for your advice. I think I'll leave it: - Validity of acceptance (thanks again to ) - Costs - Location: it is in BW but already warm (on the Neckar) --> not really worth it as an additional heat source

It is never worthwhile as a heat source, since the manufacturing costs of the fireplace do not offset the saved consumption costs of the main heating system even in 100 years. Pure "luxury". Well-being, coziness, prestige factor, emergency heat source in case of main heating failure or power outage in winter, selling point when selling the house, ... these are the things to consider here. For us, it was basically settled; the house was also, in a way, planned around the fireplace.
