Hello everyone,
after my last question about the structural engineer (we hammered in the beam and it still holds ^^), now about my best friend throughout the entire renovation phase, the roofer. The emotions don’t belong here anyway, so now to the facts.
Short: The rain runs into the house at the chimney wall
Now the esteemed roofer looked at the problem and said it is nobody’s fault, but it can be fixed for 1000€. More on that below.
When the roof was covered, our chimney looked like in the following picture (the point of contention is the cover).

This cover was removed AFTER the roofer’s work was completed for the heating devices. Since the cover was removed, we have the problem of rain entering during rain and strong wind. Until now this was only at the beginning of the year during the extreme rain phase. We only noticed it when a yellow stain appeared on the ceiling in the upper floor, so it is hard to assess how the condition was with the hood. In the following picture you can see the condition from the attic (the foil generally hung like that)

On the left you can see the chimney wall, on the right the paneling, above the "framing" of the paneling. As you can see, you can see light. Our roofer says that this is all correct, the cover would have prevented rain from coming in. But when I look at the cover like that, I doubt such a cover can withstand storms and rain and I therefore see our future insulation at risk.
The roofer offered to fill the chimney head with resin for about 1000€, which is apparently normal, then it will be sealed. Now the money is one thing, but I haven’t trusted him in a long time, too much has happened. I assume he botched the job and now wants to fix that botch at our expense. So now my question to the forum. If his statements are correct and confirmed here, I will not question it, but just the loose foil at the chimney wall raises questions for me.
Thanks in advance
Regards
