Central ventilation system and odors from outside

Both have advantages and disadvantages. The sensor is good for short disturbances, the activated carbon filter is good if the ventilation is supposed to run during longer neighbor's fireplace fires.

We will also use an activated carbon filter. Based on how it is in our current apartment, the system would have to be turned off from 6 to 10 pm. The neighbor's smoke in winter comes exactly at the times when you want to ventilate yourself to get rid of cooking odors.

We have had no problems so far. Even if it smells like smoke outside, hardly anything comes inside. We only have standard filters installed. For example, I was also afraid of New Year's Eve - completely unnecessary for us. But it certainly also depends a lot on the location of the intake valve.
