If you buy a device like this, the hose *MUST* disappear into the wall (so a kind of hose reel/retracting mechanism). Otherwise, the hose will just be lying around loose somewhere and the whole thing is complete nonsense.
Embedding it in the wall will probably also be difficult because the hose naturally has a substantial diameter. The location must be chosen within the house/floor so that you can reach every corner properly with the hose (farthest upper corner). However, such a long hose is not exactly short and handy.
In terms of maintenance, of course, the same applies as with a normal vacuum cleaner. You need filters and have to clean the vacuum cleaner now and then. Overall, though, it's manageable.
Instead of such a device, it is probably more worthwhile to buy a very good household vacuum cleaner. It doesn't have to be a Vorwerk, though. Miele also offers very good devices for under €200.
