We want to wallpaper ourselves for the first time soon. A few days ago, we already went to the hardware store to look at wallpapers. There are various types like non-woven wallpaper, textile wallpaper, textured wallpaper, etc. But which type is easiest for beginners like us to apply? I have heard that the extremely thin wallpapers are not that easy to apply. They tend to tear quite quickly. Is there anything special to consider? After all, the result should look good.

hi Jack,

I think that, for example, non-woven wallpapers are more suitable for beginners than woodchip wallpapers. however, the non-woven wallpapers also cost a bit more. you have to make sure that the paste is suitable for the chosen wallpaper.

best regards,
Mara :)

have never wallpapered myself, rather painted, but what do they say at the hardware store about it and I think you can also find something on this topic under do it yourself
but I have never read it either

do the wallpapers look different visually?

Hi Jack,
If you are wallpapering for the first time, it will not be that easy. But I would definitely not choose wallpaper with large patterns, because then you have to cut each strip individually so that the pattern matches. Stick to rather simple wallpaper, then not much can go wrong. But always hang the strips straight.

Hello everyone, thanks for your tips. I have already checked under do it yourself as well. So I’m also leaning towards non-woven wallpaper because it is a bit firmer and, according to the seller at the hardware store, can be removed in whole strips. I will also skip the large patterns at the beginning. Let’s see, maybe I’ll develop a knack for wallpapering. Thanks for the advice! Jack
