I am currently looking for inspirations or pictures of houses without roof overhangs that are equipped with exterior cameras. I am primarily thinking of turret cameras, as they do not protrude as much. Unfortunately, there are few meaningful pictures on Google, but surely some people here have flat roofs with cameras installed. For example, comes to mind, would you maybe post 2-3 photos here or send them to me via PM?

With roof overhangs it would be easy, but we are currently leaning towards "without." I would like to be able to assess the degree of visual disturbance caused by cameras on the wall.

I would rather tend to a dome camera (but mounted vertically) if it can be suitably adjusted. In my opinion, that would be the most inconspicuous. Often, even the mounts made of plain aluminum gray/white are removable and can be painted separately in the color of the house wall.

Where should the cameras be installed? You need the right height (2 - max 3 meters). Otherwise, you only see the top of the head. So placing them too high only helps with the overview but nothing else. Hikvision is not bad. Also take a look at Dahua. Dome cameras and preferably a little roof above them. Our cameras are almost all white. They don't stand out that much. They are also allowed to be seen. We have different cameras for different functions and positions. The APs for the WiFi are also still on the wall.

Pictures as requested:

Cameras on single-family homes are supposed to be seen, aren't they? They serve more as a deterrent than actually preventing a break-in technically. They at most make investigations easier later if someone did manage to get in. Unless you intend to spy on nosy neighbors and/or find out who keeps stealing your Sunday newspaper...

Thank you very much for the pictures!

You will and should see them, right. I forgot to mention that I regularly deal with cameras professionally, the technical background is known and the product selection has already been made. I'm just missing pictures of the private residential building right now :)

Exactly vertically, i.e. rotated 90° from the orientation intended by the manufacturer, is not a good idea especially for domes. Mounted like this, dust accumulates on the dome over time, which then causes glare at night due to reflected IR light. Then sometimes neighbor's dust comes by and leaves a greeting from the kitchen on the dome and you have to climb up. With turrets or bullets this rarely happens. At most, you might find a spider web in front of them.

Depending on the position, it will be Axis and Hikvision.

Absolutely right. But I want to see what’s going on and at least provide good images in case of doubt.

I would want to prevent that at first. With turrets (e.g. the Hikvisions) the weather impact is manageable.
