Hello,

I have already searched extensively online, but I just can't get any further with my question, which is why I now turn to you with hope.

It is about the calculation of the gross volume of a tool shed that I would like to build. The whole thing is to be implemented as a procedure-free project and I can't figure out whether the shed qualifies as such due to its size.

The shed is to be built about one meter next to an existing garage. I want to roof over the area in between. So a space that is not fully enclosed but covered will be created.

I have also attached a sketch that should illustrate this a bit better.

Can someone tell me if and how this questionable area has to be taken into account when determining the GBI?

Thank you!

Hehe... sorry... I didn't see your little picture, or rather didn't recognize the "questionable area."

Take a look at your building regulations under procedure-free construction measures. If it is the same as with us in Lower Saxony, the following applies as approval-free:

1.1 Buildings and extensions without living rooms, toilets, and fireplaces, if the buildings and extensions have no more than 40 m3 - no more than 20 m3 in outdoor areas - gross volume and are neither used for sales or exhibition purposes nor for parking motor vehicles,...

Your covered space would then probably count as an extension, you take the area and multiply by the height.

And here we are again with length X width X height :p
