Timber-framed houses have charm, without a doubt ... BUT: My observation is that the costs for refurbishment are always significantly underestimated. Especially when much of the interior walls are not visible, I would advise against it. In many cases, "already refurbished" houses were refurbished differently than the last buyer would have wanted, and you not only have to refurbish again but also correct the predecessor's mistakes. Sorry, but - seen from afar - I also advise against it.

I wouldn't buy it either. The danger is that the renovations in 2018 covered up many existing defects. The basement probably most likely shows the true condition :)
