The building application included a structural analysis and foundation for the new house. This was actually not questioned (at least that is how I understand it). An explicitly more or less informal sheet from the structural engineer was requested stating that the demolition took place as he suggested/advised. Before the demolition, he also took a structural analysis of the old house plus its foundation or basement, as we needed this for the demolition notification.

Fortunately, we demolished as advised, otherwise construction would probably no longer be possible.
