Dear forum community,
although we are actually considering parting ways with the construction company and its work, we will continue our own projects.
We need water for watering. The garden shed would offer enough rainwater, I want to place a trough on one side. It should be at least 1.50 meters long. You can buy them already, I first thought of granite in one piece, but placing it on the site is tricky. They are heavy and also fragile in length. They are dropped off at the sidewalk. It would be better if it were modular.
Do you have any ideas if and how one could build it up for fun with an adhesive and handy natural stone? Is there probably fountain adhesive? How thick would the stones have to be to bear the weight of the water? Would normal mortared corner joints be stable enough? For a start I thought I could have the concrete plant deliver me a handy, nicely reinforced thin slab, maybe about 1.50 x 0.50, which could be stored neatly on some beams and off we go.
On top, I thought I could loosely place wooden lids on the left and right, each about a third, like barrel lids, on which one could sit; in the middle a watering can must be able to dip in. I could install a pipe in the trough as an overflow and let it seep away, I could also make a little spout on a downpipe (although there is no connection to the sewage system here). Only I should manage to make it tight and stable.
I can do masonry and carpentry for the lids, just not large quantities anymore. But a little bit for fun might do me good anyway, especially since the new construction is not only pure joy and sunshine.
My darling fears mosquitoes because of standing water, but there would probably be either a harmless drop of dish soap or even one or two goldfish against that.
Does the collective intelligence know anything?
Many greetings
Gabriele
