So, we also have somewhat coarser bricks on the old house, they've been there for over 30 years now and are completely without splash protection.
We live in the middle of the forest/in the countryside and despite everything, the bricks are still in good shape, no verdigris or anything like that, and if something really got dirty, a water hose or pressure washer cleans it right up.
At the new house, we also chose rough bricks again, we just like them best and they are simply insensitive.
