Hello,

we have been living in a state-of-the-art 200m² house for 10 years.
Ventilation controlled residential ventilation with heat pump, excellent equipment in the house available.
What somehow bothers me is the location in relation to the neighbors and a heavily frequented playground.
I somehow no longer feel comfortable in the garden/on the terrace.

Now recently I had a freak out. I have always longed for a farmhouse with a barn and plenty of space. By a lucky coincidence, we have now had the opportunity to acquire such a property within the family in the same town. I pondered back and forth for weeks and have now signed this week.

Financing is not an issue as our current house is paid off and brings in a lot.
Now I suddenly get cold feet and literally panic about the project.
It really wears me out because I am now already 50.

How do you see something like this, can one still live out dreams at this age? Actually, I could just put my feet up in my current house...
Regarding the farmhouse property - one can say it has the best location in town and the garden cannot be built over.

What to panic about? Costs or work?

We are currently building for two families in a building gap. Our "soon-to-be" neighbors are 77 and 62... THEY should be the ones panicking ;)

Well, I’m totally in the comfort zone. Our current house is finished. Maybe people want too much. Normally, the path goes from high energy consumption down to low energy consumption => with us it’s the other way around. From a big house to a small house => with us it’s the other way around. I’m moving totally against the mainstream. On the one hand I am like that but I have a feeling of nonsense and fear. But the thing is there are three criteria for a property: location, location, location, right? Come on, give me some support. Greetings

The really painful things seem to fit after all: Situation fits. Finances fit. Dream: fits.

The cold feet probably come more from the size of the project and precisely the anti-mainstream aspect: If it should then go wrong, there will surely be enough people who will then (and of course only then) say: We knew that beforehand. We told you so.
Germans are simply world champions in "knowing everything afterwards".

Don't let yourself be messed with.

Do you have a plan, resources, and skills to implement it? Great! Then do it. You only have this one life to fulfill your dreams. Compared to what others say, a discreet "kiss my ass" attitude is advisable.

Good luck and success. I would be happy to see the project here. :)

Dreams want to be lived, and can be lived if the finances cooperate.

What can happen to you?
If you don't like it, you sell after two years. When one door closes, another opens :P

It's going well!
