Hello dear community, the side garage walls were shuttered and concreted on site. Insulation is not planned. But I thought that bitumen coating and foil are necessary. According to the GU, this is not necessary for concrete walls, but only for masonry units, e.g. bricks. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Hello dear community, the side garage walls were shuttered and concreted on site. Insulation is not planned. But I thought that bitumen coating and foil are necessary for the part underground, namely the base slab and frost apron. According to the construction company, this is not necessary for concrete walls, but only for building blocks, e.g. bricks. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Can you post a picture? Which concrete exactly was used?

So my garage is also standing like that, without sealing. However, it was built from the floor slab upwards. Therefore, there is a bitumen sheet as a moisture barrier between the floor slab and the brick wall. On the outside, only a dimpled membrane and a gravel strip are installed. I have to honestly admit that I never questioned this. We were told that we received a C30/35 concrete with a slightly higher cement content. Although these numbers only provide information about the compressive strength. I would have to check which exposure class was used. Can you get to see the delivery note for your concrete?
