Hello everyone,

we have now completely finished our house project and are super happy. A small downside and the only really minor thing to complain about is our garage floor. The garage was built solidly, as the house is standing one meter above it. The garage floor is a screed on which hard grain was applied. Actually, I hoped that because of the hard grain there would be no major abrasion anymore and that it would be the best solution after tiles. From the 3rd option, sealing the floor with paint, we were advised against by several sides because the paint loosens over time due to the plasticizers in the car tires. We were also able to experience this live in our previous rental apartment with a garage.
In addition, unfortunately, during the exterior plastering the garage was also misused as a break room and for mixing, which caused the floor to have some white spots.

What would you recommend as a final solution for the floor? We are still in talks with the builder and may also receive a credit from him. The question is, what is then the best solution to finally solve the abrasion and to fix the spots? My enthusiasm for tiles is rather limited by feeling. The garage has an external dimension of about 6x7m.

Thank you very much for your advice

Hi,

there are special garage tiles. Just ask Google, there are different variants.
Or non-slip split clinker bricks, they also look very good.

Then you should treat yourself to something very special - wood blocks made of end-grain wood for workshops, in my opinion there's nothing better.
Looks great, indestructible, oil-resistant, also not so hard - if you drop something it doesn't break right away.

Regards, Olli

My approach was actually more of an inexpensive but durable solution. The paint coat quickly costs 2-3 thousand euros and tiles are certainly not exactly cheap either, including installation ...

The child has already fallen into the well. Otherwise, I would have said, do a proper coating (not just a paint), this also easily withstands the plasticizers. However, depending on the provider, it costs between 2,000 and 8,000 euros.

In your case, tiles would probably be ideal. You can easily do it yourself and tiles really don’t cost a fortune at the hardware store. It might be about 2 days of work if you have a helper who applies the adhesive and prepares the material for you. To make it perfect, just work with a leveling system, in case you haven’t tiled yourself yet. It should all be done with about 1k (beer is already included!) :)
