Good morning,
We already have a massive problem at the start of the construction phase. Two days after signing the contract with the construction company, the facing bricks for our home (Wienerberger Westminster) were ordered. The delivery time was about 6 weeks. During that time, however, earthworks were carried out, the foundation was made, walls were built, etc.
Last Thursday (June 11), the facing bricks for the entire house were finally delivered amidst joyful anticipation. However, upon opening the packages, it quickly became clear that the joy was short-lived. Almost all the facing bricks have cracks from being fired too long. After my construction company reported the defect, apparently others have followed suit. Probably over 200,000 bricks are affected. However, we were the first to notice it. Now Wienerberger is quoting a delivery time of 3-4 months. According to the construction company, nothing can be done on the construction site during that time. In addition, rental costs continue and the construction site lies idle.
In your opinion, how should and can we proceed here?
Best regards, Daniel
