Hello everyone,

I am new here and hope that you can help me.

A few months ago we bought a semi-detached house. Now we have the problem that the water drains from the bathtub regardless of whether the regulator is turned to the right or is in the upright position. I can’t do anything with the drain valve in the tub itself, because when I search for it on the internet I don’t find anything remotely similar. The bathtub is completely tiled without a hatch, so we didn’t want to open anything there before it’s clear whether it might be solved differently.

Do you have any idea? The water drains slowly in every position of the regulator.

Best regards

I am not quite sure. To me, the closure looks defective. I have never seen anything so sharp-edged in a tub. Actually, you should be able to pull the thing out and underneath there is an adjustment screw. It is obviously too long and needs to be screwed in. If none of that helps, get a professional on site.

Hello,

thank you for your reply. I have now removed the rotary knob and taken pictures of everything. I also suspected that the two parts in the first picture actually belong together, but I wasn’t sure. I also tried to pull it out slightly, but I don’t want to break anything in case it is actually correct.

With a fairly high probability, the rubber ring is old, somewhat brittle, and "calcified." Replace it and the closure should close again. We had a similar closure with the same problem in our previous townhouse as well.

Thank you for your answer. For understanding, if I leave off the lid so that the white part with the screw is visible and turn the rotary handle, nothing happens, the water drains freely; does that mean that the "lid" holds the water in the bathtub? Then I don't understand what the rotary control is supposed to be for?!

The rotating element on the edge of the tub acts on the lift rods that raise and lower the lock. If it does not, then the screw on the lock is misadjusted or the lift rods are not well connected to each other. The lock has a fitted cap for better appearance and smoother surface. Although it can be turned, this has no significance.
