Hello,
we are renovating a house from the 70s. The house has real sand-lime brick cladding (11 cm SLB - 2 cm air gap - 11 cm SLB), which is why we want to keep the indestructible look for now and not install full thermal insulation everywhere.
Nevertheless, the basement is half underground due to the house being built into a slope and it needs to be worked on/excavated due to leaks.
A renovator offered us a comprehensive package including extensive excavation work, 5 cm Styrodur, 2K bitumen thick coating, primer, etc.
The Styrodur is supposed to be just a protective layer for the sealing, but I wonder if it would make sense in terms of the future to use thicker Styrodur, etc., since everything will already be excavated?
I estimate that 85% we will not equip the house with full thermal insulation, but if one does come at some point (for whatever reason), wouldn’t it make more sense to use the proper materials right away (due to the excavations)?
The additional material costs for 40 sqm should be in the triple-digit range.
What would probably be the correct insulation material for that?
PS: The areas where the basement is underground are reinforced concrete and not sand-lime brick.
Regards & thanks in advance
