Hello everyone,

I have a question for you again: What would you prefer?

1. A bungalow of about 130-140 sqm, about half of it partially basement. In the basement, there should be a double garage and two storage rooms. The garage is possible because of the hillside location.
2. A classic 1.5-story house with 150-160 sqm of living space and no basement. The double garage would then be built in the classic way on the side.
In both houses, there should be a fixed staircase to the attic, which is intended as possible expansion space and storage.

What do you say? Which one is probably more expensive? What is more practical for a family of four? Although the house should also be suitable for later in old age. The plot is definitely big enough for both houses, and in both cases, in our opinion, there is still enough garden, while the surroundings are quite green and undeveloped.

I would appreciate your suggestions!

Best regards

Don’t you have any opinion at all? Or is the question formulated too generally? *pondering* The question of costs would be interesting, wouldn’t it?

I hope I am not being too forward, but if I look at your question history, then you still hardly know anything about what you want or which solution regarding house construction is right for you. Surely a forum can help you with that, but you have to answer the basic questions for yourself - in advance - before you can be given answers to details here. Your above question is analogous to: What tastes better - 1 kg of apples or 1 pc of pears?

No hard feelings

Hm, too bad... I know other forums where people are more talkative... I probably had the wrong expectations about this. At the moment, we have several plots in prospect and are choosing seven. That also depends on the type of house and nature, etc. I just thought a general exchange would be possible here as well.

You know the answer from another thread of yours: Slope should be discussed with an architect, as in my opinion the best design would be a split-level (bungalow from the front, 1.5 levels toward the back). But for that, you would need to know the property better. And you should fundamentally prefer and like this type of construction. But that's not your thing, you write. Then this property should probably be ruled out from your point of view, otherwise it would be a wasted effort. Take a look at the [Schwö***] website, there are some bungalows on slopes pictured... Otherwise, I would adapt the choice of the property to the location!

The question is, what can you afford.... A bungalow is significantly more expensive than the classic 1.5 two-story house, which is why far more of the second option are built. For such a bungalow, you will also need at least 500 sqm of land... do you have that?
