Hi,
in other forums and on the internet I often read that floor slabs made of steel fiber reinforced concrete are rather unpopular, especially in residential buildings. However, I cannot find the reason from the technical Chinese.

We also have a steel fiber concrete floor slab and whether good or bad - now we have to deal with it. Our structural engineer additionally inserted reinforcement steel in one area (about 1/3 of the total area). Otherwise, the description seems rather meager, I hope the thing holds:

    [*]Total area 110m²
    [*]Thickness 15cm
    [*]Concrete grade: C 25/30 XC4 XF1 XA1
[*]Fiber content of 20kg / m³
    [*]structural execution

Now the question arises, what is the problem with steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC)? Will it crack?
So it has to last 50 years, after that I don't care. Is that feasible?

Hello,

no one here can tell you whether your floor slab will last 50 years....
That depends on what load it has to bear and under what conditions. (Soil conditions, weather influences, moisture, frost, etc...)

However, I would also be interested to know whether 15 cm is sufficient for an average 1.5-story single-family house???
It would be nice if the experts could comment on that....

Regards

There should be 2 full floors on it. Below is solid clay soil. Wind and weather in Germany are indeed getting crazier, but we still have the usual summers and winters, probably even in 50 years.

Hardly anyone can tell you that. It depends on the individual statics of your house and the ground. I only have a 15cm floor slab as well, but underneath there are strip foundations under all the walls.

Our soil expert advised against using a load-bearing floor slab on clay soil ==> soil replacement or strip foundations! We then decided on strip foundations and are also building with two full stories. Our non-load-bearing floor slab is already 20cm thick!

We also have strip foundations. I didn’t even know that you can build without them. Sorry, I didn’t mention that. But does no one remember anything about the fiber concrete?
