Hello forum members,
we - that is, my beloved and I^^ - want to renovate or rather demolish and rebuild our old barn starting in spring 2011!
We do have a befriended architect on board, but his motto is always: tear everything down and start anew.
Specifically, there are two questions for us that I hope to get answered here.
1. What about all the old wooden beams? Are they reusable and if so; who should check/calculate something like that? We would like to have the old beams back in because they create a completely different impression than boring new wooden beams!
2. Is it possible to build a thin wall in front of the existing walls and fill the resulting gap with insulation filling? Here too, the general answer from our architect was: knock it down, rebuild!
Already many thanks for hopefully many answers and ideas!
