No, it's just that the loan amounts are not comparable and completely individual depending on the location, income, and equity.

So what? Neither have I... nor have some others here. What is tangled in your mind is a mix-up of consumer loans and home loans (retirement provision) - you are comparing apples and oranges and should untangle your knots :)

This attitude towards life is very commendable and should protect you from indebting yourself too much for your dream house and then having problems. However—and I can promise you this—you will be tormented again and again by conflicts of conscience if costs increase or unexpected expenses arise (which will inevitably happen again and again). The only help here is to calculate reasonably and provide an appropriate buffer.
