Hello, we are currently planning our house and come to an area of 147 sqm (8.20x12.01). We initially wanted to build 2 full floors, but have now decided on 1 1/2 floors with a knee wall of 1.50m due to costs. We want a gable roof with a 45-degree pitch. I wanted to know what the size of the attic floor would be. We visited a smaller model house on Monday. It also only had a 1-meter knee wall, and the roof pitch seemed flatter to me. When I was up in the attic, I was quite shocked that I could only just stand in the middle and there was no room elsewhere.

Take millimeter paper and draw to scale. Then you can precisely measure where you have how much space.

The higher the knee wall, the higher the attic space.

The flatter the roof, the lower the attic space.

And then the width of the house under the ridge also plays a big role.

And of course the roof construction, the structure of the intermediate floor, as well as the ceiling height on the upper floor.

Is the roof perpendicular to the 8.5 or the 12 meters at your place?

I was just about to write that too. Above all, you then notice yourself that a few details are still missing in the text.

I was just about to say that too. At 45 degrees, you can very well use simple squared paper and cut a square diagonally from corner to corner.

36, 33 and 26 degrees also work well with plaid:

36 = 4 squares to the right, 3 squares up
33 = 3 squares to the right, 2 squares up
26 = 2 squares to the right, 1 square up
