Hello everyone,
I am Christian, a biologist, somewhat skilled in craftsmanship, and I am about to buy a house.
The house is 10 years old, the facade is well insulated, and it has nice gimmicks like a water-carrying fireplace and underfloor heating.
The attic is prepared for expansion, and I am currently educating myself on how much of it I can/want to do myself. A building inspector has already been on site.
Condition: Large, high attic with big windows in both gables. Between the rafters, it is already completely insulated with glass wool up to the ridge.
I would like to install an intermediate ceiling in the area of the purlins.
Question:
Since the vapor barrier cannot be laid behind the purlins but must wrap around the purlins, can the foil only run under the intermediate ceiling instead of all the way up to the ridge? That should not be a problem from a vapor perspective. Then I would create the cross battens under the foil, apply another layer of insulation (thicker again on the intermediate ceiling), have the wiring installed, and then cover it with drywall or similar.
Unfortunately, I can’t upload a picture here...
