Because you plaster and sand several times if it is supposed to be thorough.

Then give him the job without haggling, be nice to him. He will probably manage well. Don’t expect a RollsRoyce at a Skoda price ;)

We also had a 2-man painting company like that, bungalow 125sqm living space, sanding, puttying, painter's fleece, paint applied, all ceilings and walls (partly multicolored), incl. tools and materials, 7 days of work, 5000 € invoiced as a company. Quality great, they only finish new houses

If the man has a likeable and good appearance: accept the order without negotiating. The price is reasonable. Negotiating an obviously very fair offer causes resentment and then affects the quality. It would be rather foolish here. Be present and attentive (coffee, cold drinks) and do not spare praise when it looks good. Whoever does what they want does it better than they have to.

Likeability etc. is present, his partner is a good acquaintance of mine. However, I have heard from other clients in my circle of acquaintances that he always takes much longer than planned. But that is actually not too bad, since we don’t have a fixed move-in date. He just must not get sick.

Then make an agreement with him and plan a time buffer yourself. One is always disappointed when one has made wrong assumptions, because then the "Täuschung in Ende" (;) - greetings to the sadly deceased wonderful Vera Birkenbiel, from whom I first heard it)
