Hello,
we are currently having our house built...
I noticed that every room in the house has the same drywall walls, including the bathroom.
However, they are NOT green. Are there other moisture-resistant drywall boards?
It says "Rigips Vario 125" on them, I hope I have read it correctly...
According to the house manufacturer, these are also moisture-resistant!?
What do you think?

Best regards
Tim

Hello Tim,

According to this manufacturer, only the green series is suitable for damp rooms. Text from the brochure: "The boards have an impregnated gypsum core and a green carton. The impregnated gypsum core ensures that moisture can only penetrate with difficulty. Compared to a conventional gypsum board, the core-impregnated board absorbs only one tenth of the amount of water within 24 hours."

Kind regards

Thanks already for the quick response.
Is it possible to read somewhere that ONLY the green boards are suitable for damp rooms?

Tim

Hello Tim,

System Green from Rigips was specially developed for wet room construction in indoor residential areas, such as bathrooms, kitchens, etc. The System Green consists of VARIO impregnated joint filler combined with Rigips Multiboard, Rigips The Green and other green Rigips wet room boards as well as Rigips liquid sealing foil, Rigips sealing tape and Rigips sealing collars. It is the ideal sealing under ceramic coverings.

So only the green boards are suitable for wet rooms.

Hi,

ok, that already sounds bad :-/
What does this VARIO mean? It's also written on my drywall panels.
What happens in the worst case if these panels are not suitable for damp rooms? Do they swell or how am I supposed to understand that?

Tim

Does a kitchen really count as a wet room???
oh dear, then we probably have the wrong drywall panels in. although our builder said we can use the "normal" white ones for the kitchen and only the green ones for the bathroom
