Are settlement cracks normal? Or dependent on the ground?

since we are currently dealing with plastering the walls ([Fliestapette ja/nein]), the question arises whether settlement cracks occur in every building or if it depends on the ground beneath the building. We are building on rock/shale (soil class 7) and the civil engineer already told me back then that we will never have problems with stability. But how is it with settlement cracks?

I would say dependent on construction and soil. There are cracks both inside and outside the building.

Settlement cracks also occur depending on the construction method due to the drying building materials, independent of the substrate.
