Good day everyone. We are troubled by the question of whether we should fire our architect. We are currently having our single-family house built and our nerves are shot. After our architect took almost a year to plan the construction project, the construction started at the beginning of April and as of today, only the masonry is finished, not even the roof is on yet. The architect has also taken over the construction supervision from us and we hold him responsible for a lot. First, we had no construction power for 9 weeks; the builders had to use the neighbors' sockets. Then we barely escaped a fine because the construction started without the architect submitting some sort of construction status notification at the beginning. Then the authorities imposed a construction stop because the architect did not have scaffolding set up, even though the workers were already working on the first floor! We are neither informed nor do we get concrete answers to inquiries. At the moment, the construction is halted for reasons unknown to us, the architect neither responds to calls, nor to faxes or letters. We have already threatened him with dismissal, but are being ignored. Is this normal???? Are we just too kind-hearted? How should we react? Unfortunately, all trades have to be contracted individually, and of course, a lot of work will be waiting for a new architect. I am grateful for any advice...
