Approval of electrical installation by the master?

Hello everyone,

with the search function I came across countless threads on the topic of electrical installations (electricity, acceptance, installation, own work, ...) but found nothing suitable.

My concern: The electrical installations are coming up soon at our place. I would have the house connection (and possibly up to the distribution boxes) done by the master electrician. However, since my brother-in-law is a trained electrician (and really lives and breathes electricity, it’s his specialty) and has been doing everything related to electricity at his company for years (building smaller systems himself including control, BGV inspections, electrical installations, ...) he has offered to do the wiring. However, of course he cannot perform the acceptance.

Therefore my question: Does the electrical work have to be compulsorily accepted by a master electrician afterwards? And what is your experience with a master electrician accepting electrical work that he did not do himself?

I myself am also a qualified electrician and do the electrical installation including the meter cabinet myself. However, I also need a registered master company to handle the registration, etc. In my case, I take the electrical material from the master electrician, and in return, he has done the registration for me. He would have also done the registration for payment or hourly wage. But the basic material is not much more expensive than on the internet, and it was delivered to the construction site by the wholesaler. Nevertheless, I ordered quite a bit of material myself from the internet. However, I must also add that my master electrician only does this on the side and no longer wires complete houses himself. But in the end, you will need someone who inspects the system and does the registration. I would simply ask electrical companies to what extent they are willing to engage in something similar.

If your brother-in-law does everything there.... doesn't he know someone he trusts for reliability who can just quickly approve the installation at the end with the least possible time effort?

It would be a joke if that weren't the case. Unfortunately, it can't be done completely without that.

Hello everyone, and thanks for the quick responses. I will probably just speak directly with the master electrician^^. And in his company, there are 2 masters who don't like doing that kind of thing (years ago, they did it once, and since then everyone in the company comes to them and asks exactly the same thing (foreign installation -> acceptance by one of the two). Therefore, they have agreed not to do it anymore. But the possibility certainly exists if you beg a little.

My neighbor had trouble finding someone who would take it for a reasonable price!

An electrician only wanted a visual inspection and then did the registration for 200 euros. The other wanted a complete measurement protocol (he would have done it for 800 euros or else by own work) and would have then registered.

We had no problems finding someone there. I believe that will be manageable. It has always been possible from our circle of acquaintances.

Best regards
