Am I allowed to shovel on Sunday or is it prohibited?

Hello everyone,

at the moment we are filling and compacting our excavation pit. One side can unfortunately only be filled with a shovel due to lack of space.

Since I have time today and the weather is also good, my question now is whether I am allowed to do this. Of course, I do not want to start the tamper, it is only about shoveling in earth.

If it is important, we are located in a purely new development area where no one lives yet. The state is Bavaria.

Thank you very much for your help

Then go ahead. And if someone is bothered, they will speak up.

Hello emer,

I actually share that opinion as well. However, I am interested in whether I am actually allowed to do it or not? After all, I am not making any noise. What is the legal situation there? Isn't it only forbidden on a Sunday if it causes noise?

If you just want to talk nonsense about moving soil from A to B, I don't see any problems. I would do it.

Even if it's a bit late for your current concern.

A little story that my father occasionally liked to tell:
My father had a colleague from Bavaria. This colleague took Friday afternoon off to do certain work on his own home (laying OSB boards in the attic).
When asked why he didn’t do it on the weekend (he would have more time and wouldn’t have to take a day off), he received the following answer: "Some time ago, the colleague also had something to do on his own property. He did this work on a Sunday. After some time working, suddenly the police were at his door. They had been called because he violated the Christianly prescribed Sunday rest.

In the spirit of Oberlix, all I could say was: They’re crazy, those Bavarians .

However, it should be noted that this was over 15 years ago. So it might not be as strict anymore..
