Good morning,
We are watching American renovation shows again. I keep noticing that in the USA they don't use roof tiles like we do, but rather asphalt shingles. That's why I wondered why they aren't used in Germany as well.
From Google, I have found out so far that they are cheaper and lighter but don't last as long (25-35 years). How long does a "classic" roof last? Also, the asphalt shingles are supposed to be quieter when it rains.
I also wonder if photovoltaic elements can be attached to them. Perhaps the protection would extend their durability?
