Hello everyone,

after a successful move-in, I have one more question for the group:
What is the purpose of the acrylic joints between the interior doors & interior walls? Since we performed the painting work ourselves, this item is still open.
Are the joints done solely for the appearance or are there other reasons (dirt ingress)?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hello, you probably mean the joint between the frame cover and the wall. On the one hand, acrylic is applied there to even out any unevenness if the wall is slightly crooked, which is more for the visual appearance, and on the other hand because acrylic can be painted over. It looks nicer to apply acrylic only after wallpapering and painting. However, that does require some skill.

Acrylic always last; otherwise, in my opinion, everyone can save themselves the effort (several cartridges go into a house)

The painters did this with us as the very last thing.

Just leave it
I don't know of any new house where acrylic is applied between door frames and walls. My previous older house didn't have them on the old door frames, nor on the ones that were already replaced.
As already says: they are used to even out irregularities that shouldn't exist in a new house at all. And any joint between these building elements – no matter how wide – looks better if left as it is, rather than having an acrylic joint applied there.

Hello Yvonne,

Tastes are just that different

I don't want to miss it anymore since our painter used acrylic in our private house several years ago. It is "only" a visual gimmick (apart from Siggi's descriptions), in my opinion one that pleases the eye

Rhenish greetings
