Hello,

I have read that as a builder you have to take out an additional (risk) health insurance and a tip was a private one for 4-5,000€ per person.

If a helper costs about 2€ insurance, 5k seems a bit much to me.

Unfortunately, I cannot find any information about the costs online, which is quite strange.

What does it cost or how do you deal with the insurance, if you should even get it at all.

Many thanks, Mad.

Are you talking about accident insurance or health insurance?

I have the feeling that you misunderstood something. What exactly do you want to insure?

Which risk do you want to insure? Illness during the construction phase? If you are legally insured and employed, you have 6 weeks of continued payment of wages from the employer, followed by up to 72 weeks of entitlement to sickness benefit. This is about 60-67 percent of your net salary depending on personal circumstances and the salary portion below the contribution assessment ceiling of currently ?5000? euros. If you are privately insured, you need to check which sickness benefit is agreed upon in the insurance contract and from when it is paid. An additional private sickness benefit insurance can then be useful in certain cases. But make sure to check the conditions carefully.

Thank you. Actually, I only came across the fact that as a builder you also have to insure yourself through the construction worker insurance.

Quote BG Bau
The builder himself and his spouse or partner are not insured by law. However, they can voluntarily insure themselves with BG BAU upon application.

The contribution for the voluntary insurance of the builder, spouse or partner, choosing the current minimum insurance sum, is nationwide per person in 2016

annually 4,188.92 EUR (monthly 349.08 EUR).

I interpret this to mean that builders have been excluded from health insurance.

So you would have to take out health insurance, even if you are already insured?

Thx Mad

No! This is about the statutory ACCIDENT insurance. It comprehensively protects workers and employees against occupational health risks. The providers are the professional associations. For example, if you employ helpers on the construction site for your own work (it can be the neighbor, your grandpa, or anyone else) to whom YOU assign tasks, you should register them with the statutory accident insurance if they are employed for a longer period. This has NOTHING to do with health insurance!!!
