I have to admit, I wouldn’t have such strong concerns as 11ant. However, I wouldn’t tackle the matter without a structural engineer. Nevertheless, I can well imagine that connecting the two roofs remains feasible, as long as a few beams are left at the right places and new ones are integrated.
