Hello everyone,
I received a new front door last Tuesday. Unfortunately, it was the wrong one.
The door is wrong in terms of the wrong glass ornament, the brand and performance of the door are identical to the order. The door has a standard size.
My father-in-law was present during the installation but was not informed about the design of the door. My wife was also briefly present, but she knows the design and therefore could have intervened. Of course, she did not notice this during the 5 minutes she was on site (at the beginning of the work), or she was not aware of it. The order confirmation was for the correct door, and the door we ordered is also listed on the invoice. The wrong (installed) door usually costs €60 less than the ordered one.
I now have the following question:
Tendentially, we can live with the wrong door since only the design was not delivered as desired, the functionality is okay. I would just like a discount because I did not receive the door I ordered, or alternatively the correct door.
I would now suggest to the installer that he:
1. replaces the door (it is a standard size),
2. or gives us a discount because we have to live with it.
What do you think would be an appropriate discount? The door cost €3000, and the installation another €200.
Will we succeed with this proposal, or can he legally insist that my wife was present (even if only for 5 minutes) and thus has basically accepted the wrong door (even if this was not addressed in any way)?
