Wrong front door installed. What are our rights?

Hello forum community

We have built a prefabricated house. The handover date is the day after tomorrow.
We had a wired alarm system with a bus system installed.
This was already known during the house sampling. For this reason, the electrician from the house company had already coordinated with our security "man" before the construction of our house and arranged the installation of the system.

All windows were delivered with corresponding contacts, everything perfect.

Today the system was supposed to be connected. It was noticed that although a bus line leads to our front door, the required alarm contact in the front door is NOT present.
This should have been installed during the manufacturing of the door.

We chose a wired system precisely to avoid ugly surface-mounted installations on windows and doors, and now this mess. Someone from the house company must have been sleeping.

A retrofit INTO the door is apparently not possible.

Do we have the right to demand the correct front door?
We do not want to accept an applied retrofit. Our door is dark red and the retrofit would be snow white and not exactly small. A real eyesore.

Does anyone have experience?

Thanks to you all!

Harald

I believe in this case "ordered != delivered" really applies. Rectification of defects without replacement is not possible -> replacement.

Hello Harald,

Yes.

Report the wrong delivery in writing to the contracting partner and simultaneously seek a personal conversation. Since you probably haven't lost your nerves during the construction - you don't write anything about it, it seems you have found a reliable construction partner. The conversation should proceed accordingly.

Rhenish greetings

Thank you for your answers.

But... we have already kept our nerves a lot :0/. The clean-off zone in the hallway was not installed (big hassle....), sockets without covers in the bathroom right next to the faucet, entrance door that colors when wet, raising the house by 30 cm because the architect "misplanned" - and the corresponding costs...., "suddenly" appearing steel beams (in an off-the-shelf house) that ruined planned installations and other funny things....

Today, the missing contact in the front door then topped it all off.

Why do you get "all trades" from ONE source?

It’s enough to make you sick.

The provider seemed reputable according to the internet. Zero negative reviews, despite 50-60 houses per year in NRW.... but in our construction area, we are now four building families from that provider and keep having trouble.

You get the impression... as soon as you have paid most of it, the commitment decreases... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Okay, then I will demand a replacement in writing tomorrow. But they will probably try to shift the blame onto us again.

Best regards Harald

Would you like to write me a PM about who you are building with? Regardless, you have the right to proper contract fulfillment. Since no adequate retrofitting is possible with your HET and monetary compensation will not really be a consolation prize, your provider is obliged. How he explains this to his window manufacturer is not your problem. PS: what is a "Sauberlaufzone" ....? Rhineland greetings

Hello Harald,

I hope everything has been resolved(?). Please give some feedback.

Construction expert: for us, the "Sauberlaufzone" was a recess where a scraper lies flush.

Best regards
Heiko
