Good morning everyone,

first of all, @Everyone, a healthy and successful year 23.

Now to my problem:

I have a tilt-and-turn window/door element from the company Brömse in the bedroom.

This makes a strange "chattering/humming noise" when there are unfavorable strong wind conditions.
This comes from the upper part of the door. Apparently exactly where the sealing lip is missing. It is the ventilation in the window frame.
When the wind whistles around the corner, we get an uneven chattering noise from there.
At first, I suspected the foil under the roof tiles. But it is not.

What can I do about it? Glue a piece of sealing lip there, or tape the slit above the door?
I know that this will disrupt the ventilation process, but the chattering/humming noise wakes me up at night.

Hi,

since unfortunately no one else has such problems, I want to show the probable cause myself.
This black ventilation cover above the door leaf seems to be the source of the noise.
This small black plastic part is divided into two halves and very soft and unstable in the middle.
The middle parts start to flutter due to the draft. That causes the chattering/humming noise.
I have now temporarily stuck a piece of insulating tape across it as a test. Tonight we had peace for the first time.

Hello,
Is the window with the window rebate ventilator near a corner of the building?
Is the window with the window rebate ventilator on the lee side (downwind) of the house?
Is the window with the window rebate ventilator on the top floor/attic floor of the house?
Is, for example, a bathroom fan (exhaust fan) installed on that floor? If yes, is the noise louder, quieter, or not present when the bathroom fan is running?

I know exactly 3 cases, in my opinion it is really rare.

[*]Had a case in the 90s. First model Regelair (made of hard plastic with movable levers) several windows with rattling noises depending on wind/wind direction solved by installing the second generation Regelair (new at the time with small rubber stoppers as dampers) = nothing to hear anymore.
[*]About 1-2 years ago read online rattling on a window different model also hard plastic with movable levers unfortunately unknown what became of it.
[*]And your case, which somehow also fits into the list...

I am not familiar with it, but because I deal a lot with technology, I know that such effects often require very specific conditions (which apparently apply here). Possibly a small change would already help. For example, one could change the size (length) of the open piece (make it smaller or bigger), or the shape of the sealing ends (cut them at an angle). This might eliminate the noise (annoyed ;)) without disturbing the ventilation function.
