Window replacement or repair of damaged parts?

Good evening,

numerous windows are damaged on our side, seals are pinched, and the paint on the window handles has scratches.
Does the window company have to replace the window handles, or are they allowed to "only" repair the handles by painting white paint over the damaged areas?

I would like to add a question about the front door:
The door frame has several long, thin, clearly visible scratches.
Again here: does the frame have to be replaced, or could it simply be "only" painted over?

Is it normal for the windows to be damaged so much? ... So far I am really satisfied with everything, but this does shock me a bit, especially since with Schüco they are not even cheap windows :-/

even if it’s been a few days:

windows and frames can already suffer some damage during construction. normally, the windows are taped up to at least prevent dirt and minor blemishes.
theoretically, you are entitled to a defect-free item, but the repair/replacement in case of defects must be "proportional." meaning: for a 5000€ door, replacing the entire door because of a small scratch is disproportionate. it gets even trickier with the frame. if the damage can be professionally removed or neutralized (which would be advantageous anyway if you later cause a dent yourself), they are allowed to do that. afterward, there’s a neat table for compensation. if you can still see it from 1 meter away, if it catches your eye, if it’s at eye level, etc... if the scratch is very low and 95% repaired and only visible from 50 cm away, there’s practically no compensation for it.

the only leverage left is the unpaid invoice. as long as you haven’t paid, you can apply pressure. once you’ve paid, that ship has sailed and you’ll only get a few peanuts. usually, you may withhold three times the amount for removal of defects by a professional company.

what is definitely proportional: new handles and new seals, since both cost nothing and can be replaced quickly.

i only know it like this, that during construction only temporary handles are installed and only at the very end the real handles are replaced. the same goes for the front door, it only comes at the very end. (didn’t help us either, the door got scratched on the inside...)

Meanwhile, everything has been settled: All damaged parts have been completely replaced, even the door frame, although the scratches were quite fine and in an inconspicuous spot. Nevertheless, I am surprised that our window frames and handles are not taped up until everything is finished :-/

Good. So it is possible without fuss and annoyance. To continue this topic, one could post here how companies handle complaints. handled complaints and what experiences one has had. Specifically: Chipping on our living room door with glass frame: door was picked up, fixed, installed. It is no longer visible. But it took 4 weeks. And: Unsuitable wooden door between insulated living area and uninsulated attic warped in winter due to large temperature differences. Solution: Another door. They have now installed a patio door for us. It can handle that. Duration: 3 weeks. Karsten
