Hello everyone,

after having been on our currently developing construction site several times, I noticed that it is very windy there at the moment. The construction site is in BW postal code 74, about 360m above sea level. Question for the builders:

[*]Have you considered wind protection in your planning or only improved it later as needed?
[*]In the middle of the construction site, most of the wind should already be broken later, right?

Looking forward to your opinions.

Thank you

Hedges and trees... that will take a few more years. Pure houses won't help there.

That hardly sounds like a reason to fear that there will still be plenty of space for wind between the houses given the land prices. Fresh and still sparsely built, moreover with hardly any bushes yet, the fresh breeze can still pick up considerable speed. In posts #4 and #25 of this reading tip I have already discussed diffusers, furthermore in several others there:

What do you mean by wind protection? Danger of storms and whether the roof tiles hold or if it's drafty on the terrace in the evening?

I rather suspect the latter... New development areas are often on the outskirts, so it's not uncommon for it to be windy there.
The rest is often very localized. I know a new development area one town over, now in its third expansion. Slight north-facing slope with forest above. It all comes together in a hollow. That's like the air conditioning of the town. Not a single house that hasn't installed wind protection in the form of glass panes or similar by the second year at the latest.
Two kilometers further, another new development on "the other side" and further down. That's where the heat is.
I mean, this is a topic that no one can answer from a distance. You can't do anything about it anyway. Wait and then consider whether you want to do something. The development can even make it worse if the wind has to squeeze through the tight buildings.
