Good day everyone,

I just signed up here, my name is Valentin. I am building a bungalow with an angled roof.

I'll get straight to my question:
In about 4 weeks, I have to cover the ceiling (wood beams). After the ceiling is insulated and the foil is on, drywall or Fermacell boards will be installed. I want to ask you, which one should be used, drywall or Fermacell, and what thickness should be chosen.
I recently heard that Fermacell is more expensive, but supposedly much easier to work with and requires less material (battens, screws). Can this be confirmed?

I would appreciate your help...

Fermacell is overall somewhat more expensive, but the gypsum fiberboards are also more stable and moisture-resistant than regular plasterboard (Rigips). Additionally, they have better fire performance. A more stable and thicker substructure is recommended, as the boards are significantly heavier. The thickness of the sub-battens must in any case cover at least the penetration depth of the screws, otherwise the foil will be perforated later and will no longer function properly. So you don't save on fastening materials. However, only narrow joints need to be filled. There is no paper surface like with plasterboard that could be damaged when removing wallpaper later. And small items can be attached directly with a screw, as the load-bearing capacity is better.
