Hello everyone,

we will have a controlled residential ventilation system in our new building, but we would also like soundproof doors. There are special drop seals that improve sound insulation and allow air circulation. I don’t know if links can be posted here, but if you search for "Planet Mine-S," you will quickly find something.

According to the manufacturer, any airflow can pass through; only the pressure difference in Pa changes. For the smaller version, the following is specified for a door width of 1050mm:

Volume flow m³/h --> Pa
20m³/h --> 2 Pa
26m³/h --> 3 Pa
31m³/h --> 4 Pa

Since our door is only 860mm wide, I reduced the airflow by 20%. So, I already reach 2 Pa at 16m³/h.

Our rooms are calculated with 20m³/h, while the bathrooms are calculated with 44m³/h. This results in a pressure difference of 3 Pa and 9 Pa. There is also a larger version of the drop seal, so we get 2 Pa and 6 Pa.

Now these values don’t help me much, and the manufacturer says as a rough rule of thumb: The small Mine-S is sufficient up to 60m³/h, and from 60m³/h you should use the Mine-V.

What are reasonable values and what should be used as the maximum value? What disadvantages does a higher value have?

The controlled residential ventilation system is from Kermi.

Thanks in advance for the help
