Washable carpets - Teppana or Benuta experiences?

Hi dear community, I also have a question again:

Has anyone of you already had experiences with Teppana, washable rugs, or Benuta or similar?
Background: we have a €1000 rug in the living area. It’s now ruined. Not only because of a cleaning action of a table, where the cleaner dripped down and took some color away from the rug, but also in the seating area due to use.
So, it has to go. However, I don't want to spend a comparable amount again on something that has to be replaced every 8 years.

You read a lot about washable rugs having “folds in the fabric,” and in the photos, you can partly see the floppy material. Sure, thick pile rugs of a size around 200 x 300 also don’t fit in the washing machine anymore. However, we have a tub in the bathroom, that would be plan B if the new rug is too big for the drum - but washability would now probably be feature No. 1 that the new rug should have.

What do you have in your home, or what can you say about washable rugs?

No personal experience, but almost all carpets are "washable". There are special companies for this that pick up the carpet, "wash" and clean it, dry it, and bring it back. I wouldn't know how else to wash a carpet (at least in a washing machine) – anything bigger than a bedside rug won't fit in there.

For example, we have a company with a homepage – I once copied a "wash" from there.

If you have managed 8 years so far, why do you want to clean it monthly?

I don't think you can reasonably handle such a large carpet in a tub. Rather lay it out on a flat surface outdoors and go over it with a hose or the Kärcher.

If the carpet fits into the washing machine, it can hardly be anything but wavy.

That’s why I’m asking about experiences. It’s supposed to be that the thin carpet lies on its carrier layer and can then go into the drum as needed. For every device, there are various experience reports on YouTube, just not for these carpets. Only the short TikTok or Insta clips. Because I want to switch to solid colors and we have different requirements in the meantime (hemophiliac and dog). Yes, times change. And the “want” is unquestionable. Of course it was exaggerated, but the example from otherwise always practical Norderney is simply not suitable for everyday use. However, I have now ordered a “conservative” carpet - we already have smaller ones of the material (quality). If I calculate, at 1.4 kg/sqm I am under 8 kg for the selected size. I will see.

That’s how I read it too. But Benuta only offers thin “plastic” carpets made of synthetic fibers for washing. All others must not go in the washing machine. Lorena Canals still has carpets that I find beautiful and that are not so thin (also made of washable natural fibers). But there too (because these are real carpets and less like mats), only the small pieces may be washed by yourself. For the larger ones, professional cleaning is explicitly recommended. Of course, a different price range (often 500-800€ for a carpet).

In fact, many people send their carpets to the cleaners. Because almost all carpets cannot be washed. Whether I wash a carpet myself and have it dry after three days (the synthetic ones might be dry much faster) or give it to a professional for three days makes no difference in practice. Just in the wallet. But with a non-cheap carpet, it should be worth it. My suggestion feels very practical to me.

With those demands, however, I would also resort to the cheap washable pieces. Not exactly because of dogs, but blood is not nice (neither for the one it comes from nor for the carpet).

P.S. I just looked at Teppana as well. They even have 20mm plush carpets. Not bad. But for 2x3m (fitting under my coffee table plus walkways at the couch) it costs 500€ despite Black Week.

The Plush Mono Toffee Carpet :) What a nice name for nearly 500€, promising a lot. With an extra thick underlay at 530€. By the way, Black Week runs until December.. so if my cheap Otto carpet for just under 75€ fails or is not liked, then some supporters will have to share their experiences with Teppana again. Yeah, it’s all synthetic fiber, but there’s no alternative.
