Hello guys,

I am a trained painter and varnisher and had to work with insulation primer today. Since I didn’t have an old brush at hand, I had to use a good one of mine and well, I just tried to clean it with nitro, but it doesn’t dissolve at all. Is there a way, because if nitro doesn’t work, that’s kind of strange. I mean, ok, I had to dilute the insulation primer with spirit, but unfortunately I don’t have any at home to (if it even works with that) clean it out.
If anyone knows something, please get in touch ;)

Best regards

Hello,

The components of spirit are: ethanol > 85% and mostly propane < 15%.
Ethanol is mainly known as drinking alcohol, which is classified as a component in beverages (e.g. wine, beer, liqueur). However, ethanol is also used in bioalcohol (fuel).

So you have two options: either you have cheap booze stored somewhere in the house and use that or you go to the gas station :D

Kind regards

Washing a brush with beer or wine, is that supposed to work? Or is that just a bad joke :p I've already covered the brush in Nitro for a few hours, but that probably won't help ;)

There wasn't really anything bad written there. I think it's a bit exaggerated, but oh well.

Sure it works if you are painting with water-based colors, the solvent is watery. But the person who gave this tip probably had already consumed too much of the solvent.
