VOB or Building Code?

Hello everyone!

My little family has now decided to build after all. However, we are still at the very beginning. A construction company wants VOB without parts B+C as a basis. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up at the mention of VOB. According to the Building Code, the client is better protected. What do you think about this? I haven’t fought my way through the VOB paragraphs yet!

Many thanks in advance
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

Are you completely sure that part B is excluded? Often a frustrating discussion; if you look around this forum, you will find a lot of good information on this topic => Welcome to the left sidebar.

Basically, the VOB regulates the technical/handicraft part and should always be part of the contract for work with part B, which otherwise should be signed according to the Building Code. In case of legal dispute, the courts will decide according to the Building Code anyway. Simply put, VOB and the Building Code replace each other where necessary in the technical area; the Building Code protects the client from being taken advantage of.

If you really _want_ to master their scope, you probably won't be able to build anytime soon. :)

Kind regards

"VOB - Part B+C"......that's how it is written. It could also mean that only Part B+C applies. But just the word VOB gives me the creeps.

No, an angled bungalow. Stone by stone! As I said, I haven't really dealt with the topic yet. The initial enthusiasm is slowly fading again. At first, it was said that construction would only be according to the Building Code. Now I have to read something about VOB. VOB is more disadvantageous for the client, that’s as far as I am so far. I don’t know what is stated in Part A-?????. The offer says "VOB - B+C"

Hello Andreas,

No, not necessarily. The VOB Part "B" should remain part of the contract for work, why Part "C" is now added in your case will be explained to you by your provider. Possibly he is also carrying out the roof structure alongside the shell construction.

Kind regards
