Since we are now proud owners of a floor slab, we are also thinking about what should go on top of it. Due to the pleasant walking experience, it should be a vinyl floor; for a few years now, there has been so-called "loose lay" vinyl. This has a high own weight (8000g/m²), a special structure on the underside, and is laid wall-to-wall with butt joints, requiring no wall gap, as it only expands in the 0.XX mm range; extra insulation or vapor barrier underneath is also not necessary.

For us, it will be about 100m² to be laid (in one piece without expansion joints), and it should be uniform throughout.

The following rooms are to be equipped with it:
- Entrance area
- Hallway
- Living room
- Dining area
- Kitchen
- Bedroom
- Children's room
- Hobby room

So far, we have not found much about it, but the easy installation and the simple replacement of a defective piece are very tempting.

Has anyone had experience with this? If yes, I am interested in your reports.

Currently, our favorite is objectflor's SimpLay Design Vinyl, but we are also open to other manufacturers and look forward to recommendations.

There are already some threads on the topic.

The manufacturer states that little to no adhesive is needed, depending on the installation and on most hard floors. However, the wording is designed in such a way that it basically doesn't say anything concrete. I couldn't quickly find what kind of carrier material it is.

The planks have solid edges with a groove. Therefore, I conclude it is simple floating installation, as with all other manufacturers as well. The price is in the good mid-range segment.

I have to search more extensively regarding the carrier material. That is not entirely unimportant, especially with underfloor heating.

Installation certainly won't work without an expansion joint. Of course, depending on the size of the room.

I have now read through the datasheets. However, they only mention use as a raised floor. Only other finished floor coverings such as firmly glued PVC, linoleum, parquet, tiles, etc. are mentioned as suitable substrates. Direct installation on screed is not mentioned. For that, you actually only need an expansion joint starting from a room size of 10 m x 10 m and a maximum distance of 2 mm to walls and doors must be maintained. To me, this so far reads like a renovation floor.

We have already looked at it and also held it in our hands; it makes a quality impression. My only concern is that salespeople often tell you what you want to hear, and the actual material properties get overlooked. According to them, you only need to
-sweep
-vacuum
and then you can lay it without any additional insulation or similar.
Hence the question if anyone already has it.

Let's see, maybe some more people will get back.

Thanks so far for your answers

In my opinion, a PE film and suitable impact sound insulation are required for floating installation on screed.

The data sheet does not even hint at installation on screed. I would explicitly ask the dealer about this again and have them confirm it in writing.
We are currently completely replacing our vinyl after only 6 months because there were problems regarding the materials used.

We are also considering the Looselay Vinyl from objectflor. But even the floor layer has no experience with it. Have you installed it now and what are your experiences with it? A quick response would be great.
