Hello,
I probably have a simple question for the group. I intend to install a doorbell with video image in our new building. There should be one monitor each on the ground floor and the upper floor. The purpose is simply to see who is at the door and whether I want to open or pretend that no one is home.

I am already browsing the internet to see what one can do or how one can realize the whole thing myself because I think it will be too expensive through the electrical company. A doorbell system with a gong is included in the scope of services.

I am practically interested in what I should tell the company about which cables they should lay where and how, and I will do the rest myself.

A door opening function is not necessarily necessary because if I want to talk to the person or so, I can also go to the front door. The entrance door has a fingerprint scanner for the family.

Maybe there is also one or the other system recommendation.

Thank you very much for your time and effort

Of course, you can have a ridiculously expensive solution installed from the usual suspects Siedle, Behnker, Elcom, Gira and so on.

FOR ME, ~1000€ for the video function is too expensive and not interoperable enough.
Therefore, I will install a Hikvision IP cam (~100€) at the front door. Inside, I can then display the image triggered by the cam, the doorbell, or whatever I want on a tablet on the wall, or also on the PC, TV, or whatever. With the right app and intercom system, you can also do audio and open the door.

Hello SirSydom, I am facing exactly the same problem. Could you possibly describe in more detail how you integrated the Hikvision so that the image pops up when the bell rings? Thanks. Regards Stefan

That simply works via the motion detection of the camera... meaning motion there -> image on the monitor

Thank you Mycraft! I'm just not quite sure how the monitor/the tablet gets the signal to display. Do you have a home server behind it or does it work via an app?
